DVD> .m2v, audio > remux not reauthor?

Folks,

Thanks again for all the help so far. I'm back with a new question.

I have an .m2v file (demuxed form original dvd) and a new audio track .wav file. The audio is exactly the proper length.

I have been able to re-author the DVD using ReJig and the wav file, but i dont want to do that yet. What i would like to is remux the .m2v and the audio into an mpeg stream. Then i can open it in my dvd authoring software and cut it into chapters and put an intro and whatnot.

I have tried using my (Roxio) software, and it does not like m2v. I have tried using tmpenc, but it does not like the wave file. There are a couple of solutions, but i don't know how to do it.

1) what can i use to convert from m2v to any other vid format? (Or, alternatively, what am i missing that my roxio software wont recognize the m2v as a video file? Can i just rename it?)then i can use the roxio and be done.

2) What can i do to preserve the high quality of my new audio track but convert it into something else (ac3 or mp3, i guess) that tmpenc can use?

You should really give DVDLab (http://www.mediachance.com) a try. No need to mux streams back together to create chptr points.

Spend some time reading its help files/guides (and maybe some searches around here) and you'll never use roxio again.

That looks good, for sure. I just want to make sure it will take a .wav file as audio. Will it?

Thanks for the tip, i think i will gamble the $100.

Oh, one more thing, will this let me burn a dvd on hard drive to a disc? I have not been able to do that directly yet. I have just remuxed with ReJig and that is a reauthor, not a burn.

nope, sorry, afaik dvdlab doesn't support burning dvds, BUT for burning you can always use ImgTool Classic to create an iso file from the authored files and then burn the iso (image) with DVDdecrypter! that's a totally valid and easy method and in addition it happens to be totally free :P

Thanks for the tip. Could you break it down a little more for me?

I author the files and get some .vob files and some ifo files, right? Then you say to use ImgTool to create an iso file. Is the iso file the whole thing?

things r as steve has pointed out.

U make a folder, u name it after the movie
u put inside two folders, a AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS
u put your vobs and ifo and bup files inside the VIDEO_TS folder
use imgtools classic and make an iso image
burn the image with decrypter.

Yeah, thanks for the additional tip. The problem now is that to get the trial, you need a component of nero. There is no free trial at the moment. So i am stuck for the time being.
