A bit too unspecific for this forum, excuse that I transfer this to the Newbies-section.

About your questions: All you'll want to know about deinterlacing can be learned here (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm).

The recommended resolution depends also on the duration of the movie. Please use GordianKnot to calculate a good resolution. If that is a feature-film (about 2 hours in length) you actually want to reduce to the size of 230MB, I'd say you want a resolution like 256x144(!). 230 MB is no sensible target-size for a movie.

I'd recommend AutoGK for your first encodings.

Teegedeck, thanks for the reply and moving my post to a more appropriate forum that link on deinterlacing was very helpful thank you. The source format is actually a tv episode and runs about 22mins~ 230mb seems to be a fairly good size/quality ratio i've found a deinterlacer to use and seems to work fine.

I've done some testing with resolutions the settings i use now are..

2 Pass Target Size 230mb
Deinterlace Dupulicate Field 1
Resize 624 x 352 Lanczos3

Video came out fairly nice :)
