Resize 2 avi files to fit on 1cd?

Ok I was wondering if there was a way to take let's say 2 700mb avi files and reduce the size so they fit on 1 cd. If there is, is it long and is it longer then making a vcd? Thanks for any help.

The only way to do that thing is to re-encode the movies.
If you want to keep it as a avi file try AutoGK (http://len0x.btothec.com/web3/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1), or if you are a little bit more interested and familiar with coding try
GordianKnot (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gordianknot/Gordian.Knot.Rip.Pack.0.28.8.Setup.exe?download).
For both you need thisCodec Pack (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gordianknot/Gordian.Knot.Codec.Pack.1.7.Setup.exe?download) I think.

well with 'is it long' i take it you are talking about how long it will take! this greatly depends on your hardware but will not take much less time than encoding to VCD!

anyway, just a reminder: reducing the video file size in half will drastically (by far more than 50%) reduce the video quality!
