Making a video longer

I'm hoping somebody knows the answer to this.

I am trying to make a slideshow presentation. The function in DVD-Lab does not work for me, as it is producing very poor quality slides. I have found Slideshow Moviemaker (freeware tool) that seems to work very well.

Now, what I need to accomplish is making the slideshow presentation length match the length of the audio track (just music, so synch isn't an issue, just want the music to end when the last slide is on the screen). The slideshow (using the default 5 seconds) is 5:55, the audio track is 6:21.

Is there anyway to slow down the video so that it plays for 6:21?

there sure is... depends on the format you've got your slidshow in though...

It allows me to use any codec I want to for exporting it. While I was just playing around with it last night, I have been using xvid, however, I am also open to any suggestions on which codec to use as well.

Hi-

It's at 5:55 now (=355 seconds). You want 6:21 (=381 seconds). 355/381=.932.

What's the framerate now, 29.97fps?

29.97 x .932 = 27.925fps.

If you can slow it to 27.925fps, you'll be in business.

Open Virtual Dub Mod or NanDub. Set Video to Direct Stream Copy. Then go Video->Framerate. Change to 27.925. Then go File->Save As xxxx.avi, give it a new name, and you should be in business. Mux the audio while you're at it.

Now, as I'm a newbie at this, let me ask you this question...

If I change the framerate to 27.925, how will this play on my TV, since it no longer fits the NTSC standard? This is where I start getting very confused.

Only if wanna put it on a VCD/SVCD/DVD for ya standalone... ;)

In this case, you could simply converting it back to 29.97 !!!
