View Full Version : How would you go about Re-authoring a DVD (the easiest way)?

I have been backing up my DVD's for some time now. I have just gotten into the Big 3 methods and I think the best way to back these up is just to completely re-author them. I just want to make my backups so I put the disc in and the original menu comes up. I want to delete all extras on the disc to preserve a high bitrate for the main movie. I would then disable the buttons on the menu where I don't want you to go. I just want to leave the menu there to look nice and for scene selection. Is there a way to break apart the menu and then bring it back together in Scenarist or something? Is this completely over my head? I know CloneDVD2, etc., will do this, but I like using a higher quality encoding method....Willing to learn......

Thanks.

When i backup my DVDs i really dont want anything exept the movie and subs.

dvd shrink is perfect for that.
fast and easy. what i dont like is that it cant convert the LPCM to AC3 or mpa so i do another job after backing up, I openup in TMPGEnc Author and encode the sound.

You can use Nero Recode to cut the audio and subtitles and then use DVDRemake to delete all extras and buttons. You'll need to edit the command of buttons or even to edit the commands in PGC if the buttons jump to the end of Cell.
Then, if the result is bigger then 4.37 GB use "the Big 3 methods" only for main movie and then copy the movie over the movie from DVDRemake (with the same number of VTS)--> IFOEdit Get VTS sectors and then---> VOILA put the result on Disk FIN

automagically, no

in dvddec, go into file mode (specify in the options under file mode to split by vobid) and find the _0.vob (or video_ts.vob) where the menus are and demux the m2v and ac3.

then use subrip (or the like) on the same vob to save the menu overlays.

then you can drop them all into the authoring app and recreate the menus.

have fun
