I tried to extract the sound from a mpeg video with virtual dub into a .wav file and it gives the following error message. "ERROR DECODING MPEG AUDIO FRAME. Incomplete frame"

also When I open the file with virtual dub it gives me this warning message "POSSIBLE IMPROPER JOIN"

how can you around this problem to save the .wav file which is in a very good condition.

thanks

In this case just forget about extracting audio in VD - do it via GraphEdit (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/graphedit.html).

You must build following filter chain:

File source async. (point to mpg file) -> MPEG-I Stream Splitter (I assume You have mpg1 video) -> MPEG Audio Decoder (connected to audio pin) -> WAV Dest -> File writer.

Filter WAV Dest is included with GraphEdit (just run install.bat).

EDIT:
You can also try to demultiplex audio in TmpegEnc (File->MPEG Tools->Simple De-multiplex).

greetings!
use da nandub thingie! it's very permissive. save to wav.
then save da video without da sound to get rid of the bad muxed sound. then you're a free man. hope to solve da problem. peace!
and man don't use win9x no matter. it's evil.:(
