Hi everyone :D

Have been reading thru the guides etc. while i've been waiting to post. They did answer a lot of questions and now i've pretty much got everything i need.

Most of it works great too...

but i'm having a problem with TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 Merge & cut facility.

I'm trying to join 2 mpeg 1 layer 2 files of same attributes (have run thru Gspot to check compatability :) ). When i join them though, roughly 30 mins is cut from the overall film.

Tried everything i could think of but nothing worked. So ended up joining files with boilsoft joiner v4.48 but this has put weird screech noises in the film every so often.

Any advice on where i might be going wrong, or any software that will do the same job would really be appreciated.

thanks

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your header information got corrupted on one or both of the files. So, when TMPGEnc rewrites the header information, the information may not be correct. As a result, the file plays, but plays with problems as you have experienced.

You could try VCDGear (which is free) which can do an mpeg to mpeg conversion. It essentially remanufactures the mpeg. It may not work, but it's worth a try. It may correct the problem you are experiencing.
