How do I set the "Author", "Copyright", etc. field with VirtualDub? VDub seems to add it's own. Is there a toold to set there information fields in an AVI if it's not possible with Vdub?

I do this with VdubMod :)

Open a video in VDubmod
Go to Streams
Video Comments
You can click on what is already there then "Delete" to get rid of the default entry if you like.
Then on the lower left, click the drop down arrow and scroll to what you want.
On the right, in the Value field, type in what you want to say and then click "Add".
Click "ok"

Set video and audio to "Direct Stream Copy" and save. You might want to save it with a different name so you don't over write the original.
It won't take long.

I am hoping someone will come along and explain for us what the tags mean.

VDub canīt do that. Only VDubMod.
AFAIK, you couldnīt overwrite the original file anway - VDub(Mod) prevents that.

Note: not all the tags are useable for all formats. Unfortunately, VDubMod doesnīt tell you that, but some simply vanish when saving as AVI(for example).
