Hey all,
I was just wondering... I know BeSweet is able to encode at 5.1 as well as 2.0 AC3 streams. The only thing is I've heard that BeSweet does not create DVD Compliant AC3's.
All I need is a program that creates *compliant* 2.0 AC3. I thought I heard a mention awhile back for a free one, but it only does 2.0 AC3, which would be fine!
Thanks

Okay thanks, now as I understand it DSPGuru borrowed the source code from ffmpeg (ac3enc) and made the AC3Enc plugin for BeSweet. Does ffmpeg create DVD compliant AC3 2.0?
Thanks!

Ac3Enc.dll is added to BeSweet by DSPguru for testing purposes and known for some strange compat. Problems when played back on some player brands (like some Pioneer ones). I got no Problem with my Cyberhome.
Theres a new compile of that dll provided in the latest BeSweet package but some users still do report from that compilant issue.
BUT ... as you anyway want to reencode in 2.0ch why dont you use mp2?
a) No volume decrease issue
b) will be better specs/player compilant.

I would like to have AC3 2.0, because of the fact that I have heard it is NOT a standard in the US to support MPEG Audio (MP2) on a DVD Player (although most players support it). And in fact it would be more compatable than to use MP2 if I found an encoder that is DVD compliant to all DVD players.
That is why :-P...

- joshbm The reason ac3enc support was re-added to BeSweet was that there was a compliancy fix in the ffmpeg AC3 source code. since then, there have been no reports of non-compliant streams (AFAIK) being produced by ac3enc. So use the latest beta and you should have no problems encoding 2.0 AC3.
Oh, and there is no other free AC3 encoder besides ffmpeg, which is the same AC3 encoder besweet uses.

Which version of FFmpeg has this encoder. I currently have FFdshow (v20040808) installed.. Is it somewhere in there too?
Cheers
