Hi,
I have been trying to convert the complete works of Michel Gondry (music video collection) to MPEG4 while retaining the original 2.0 ac3 track. Since the DVD structure is quite complex (the main DVD ifo splits each music video into a seperate pgc) I decided to rip the VOB files straight from the DVD to my HDD. All is fine when I play the VOBs back on my pc, and it contains all the desired videos.

However, after I convert the video to XviD and muxed the new AVI with the original AC3 I am getting a gradual audio lag throughout the set of videos. The first few are ok, but it gradually gets worse. It seems that the audio lag gets worse roughly every 25 minutes, this corresponds with the duration of each of the VOB file taken from the DVD. This leads me to believe that during the encoding
process the computer creates some extra frames where the VOB files join, which means the audio is constantly playing behind the video afterwards. Even this, or DVD2AVI is not demuxing the audio correctly.

The AVI was created using gordianknot and the ac3 was demuxed by DVD2AVI (I have also tried using vstrip). The only solution I know is to split the AVI at each "lag point" and adjust the audio interleaving manually. Does anyone know of a better solution?
Thanks!
