hi im trying to backup the last samurai using the guide mentioned in the title, and when u load the film and save a d2v. file in dvd2avi for use in the vfapi converter.
i was wondering if i have to load my 1st .vob file which isn't the main movie into the dvd2avi program.
the 1st vob file is a menu which has parts of the movie playing in the background, should i load this as well as the main movie or not?
also wondering if this cool menu feature can be duplicated in my backup using this guide, can it?
thanks for the help.

No you don't load the menu, just the movie and the movie alone :)
I assume you are using TRILIGHT's guide? yes you can certainly keep the menu as is, if the last samurai is a single-pgc title anyway. Scenarist is more appropriate for multi-PGC.

i've re-read your post a number of times and am still a little confused ...
i see no-where in trilights guide it mention importing menu vobs - not to say you cant but there is no need for it and the effort required to re-do your buttons/highlights/commands etc would be enough to send you on a brief stay to your local mental institute.
as matthew said - load the movie and the movie alone.
re-use your existing menu vobs and update the ifos, as the guide explains.

lol, didn't think it would be so simple to keep the menu, thanks

in the guide it says u need to use pulldown.exe on the movie, is this just ntsc titles or do you have to do it as well for Pal movies aswell.?

pulldown is only required for ntsc. It is for turning a 23.976 fps video stream into the NTSC standard of 29.97.
PAL is 25 fps and pulldown is a complete non issue :)

i have another problem using update ifo, says error only 1 pgc stream found instead of 2, i think the 2nd pgc file is a warner village logo which is the last vod file but for some reason this vob file plays 1st before anything, but i've included this in the same folder (kept same name) and it still dosn't work.

ok forget the maestro guide, there's 2 pgcs, 1st one is the main movie and the 2nd one has the credits in it and the warner logo at the end of the credits, but for some reason the warner logo is the 1st thing played on the dvd.
So i decieded to go with scenarist guide and hit probs already with do it fast 4 u, when i click do it it says dvd decrypter found but not compatible says need 3.1.8.0+ but i have 3.2.2.0 and dont know anywhere to download a earlier version.
any1 know any?
