I am wondering if it is possible to add protection onto ripped dvds.I am asking because i back up all dvds i buy and if any of my mates want to borrow them i give them the copy to watch but 1 of them is copying them with his stand alone recorder so basically i am paying a fortune for my dvds for somebody to get them free off me.Before anybody says ''don't give them out'' i don't mind giving them out but when they are being copied i would rather have protection on them than not borrow any of my mates any of them.

I dont know of any protection you could put on your dvd's that couldnt be broken with a little knowhow and a download or two. I mean look at all the good Macrovision did the MPAA.
EDIT: Couldnt you borrow them the real copy? It wouldnt be possible to copy those since most are probably dvd-9 discs and wouldnt fit on his burnables.

He wouldn't be able to copy the originals on a standalone recorder anyways because he couldn't reproduce the inner CSS ring... DVD9 or not :) The only reason he can copy the DVD5s is because they are sans CSS.
