I am having a lot of trouble getting my text buttons to look right when they are highlighted on my finished dvd menu. What I mean is that everything looks perfectly aligned in Maestro and photoshop but after I compile my project my text buttons are highlighted wrong. The highlight is usually not directly over my text or is not completely covering the entire word. I have looked over the forum and guides and have tried some of the possible solutions suggested but they have not worked for me. I am obviously missing some step. Here is how I make my menu's:
1. I use photoshop to make my background image at 720x480. Making sure that "anti-alias none" is checked on my text layers. My text is very simple, no shadows or anything.
2. I add another layer by highlighting my text in my background layer then check "inverse" so that I can fill the area around that text with white. After that I select "inverse" again so I can fill my text that I want to be buttons with black. This is my subpicture with just 2 colors; white and black.
3. After that I merge all the layers of my background layers except my subpic layer. So now I am left with 2 layers (1 subpic and 1 background).
4. Save as a psd file.
5. Load my menus into Maestro.
6. Draw the square boxes where my text is for my buttons.
7. Map my colors for my buttons which in my case is only black
8. Compile my work
The dvd turns out fine but like I said somehow my button highlights are off or just look different then they appeared before compiling. I hope this makes sense. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a much better technique for achieving my desired result?
thanks,
