XDVD - what the heck is it?

I have the new TMPGenc XPress 3.0 and it has a new thing called XDVD. Other than the 2 sentences about XDVD on TMPGenc's website, I can't find a thing about what this is. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

It's a term for Non-Standard-DVD-Encoding. It uses larger GOPs and other things which are good to spare bitrate. But it may cause problems with some DVD-Players. My suggestion: Don't use it (even don't use XPress...).

That doesn't really fully answer my question though. I don't care if it's not compatible with DVD Players (though it is with some). I want to know what this means:

Introduction of the XDVD (eXtended DVD) format.
A new format called XDVD has been developed based on DVD-Video standard, to allow longer hours. Though the length of GOP(Group of Pictures) is limited to 18 frames in the DVD-Video standard, concerning the XDVD format, one GOP can contain up to 60 frames! High-quality and high-compression can be realized in the same time. For instance, it is possible with that format to [b]put 10 hours of video in a 4.7 GB DVD[b]

How can I get 10 hours of video on one dvd? What settings should be used for that? I tried but couldn't get it to work since there's no explanation anywhere on this. ALso do those 10 hours compromise quality or what?

Even using this XDVD thing - putting 10 Hours of Video onto one DVD will decrease the quality dramaticaly.
Big GOPs do often cause very strange effects in the Videos, just like MVCD and other (imho) crazy things do.

There are no special settings, all you have to do is to choose the right settings for the given Video - the settings may be very different for different Videos.
I suggest you not to put more than up to 6 Hours onto a DVD5. That's a thing you can do without any special or non standard settings.

From my Poit of view, XDVD is a kind of a Marketing-Gag.

i can't "promisse" 10 hours with very cool quality but 6 hours i can.....(and 10 hours with not so cool quality too).
