I did some searching, but can't seem to find if there's a list out there of standalone players that the Mpeg-4 files that AutoGK creates are compatible with.

I'm interested in some of the new portable players coming out, and all they ever say for specs is that they will play MPEG-4 SP files. It would be nice to find or make a list of players that people have tried with AutoGK created files to see which ones it works with.

I know, for example, that the Archos players can be quite fussy about the formats of the MPEG-4 files. Has anyone tried AutoGK with those?

AutoGK produces files compatible with all standalones (its designed for that). ESS-based players require special option to be activated during setup of AutoGK though...

Thanks for the reply!

I guess if there's a list, it should be of any players that DON'T play a file created with AutoGK! =) (And to be boycotted!!)

Actually no, coz that would put comp test out of accuracy quite a lot since in 1 pass mode DivX cannot enable profiles...

You're missing the point: "Max bitrate" setting is not available for 1 pass quality based encoding that comp test is using...

The catch (very extreme case): you have a movie that often requires high bitrates spikes. You run comp test and set resolution with quality=75%. But when you enable bitrate control it turns out that movie is much more compressible now (by 20-30%), so you will end up with quality over 100% which results not only being wrong about resolution, but may be even with undersized files simply because you should have chosen large resolution. So comp test is usless in this case (it HAS to have bitrate control in it as well).
