I am looking for a method to get the background images found in original DVD as files in order to remake them a little bit and then use it for my own created DVD. Same thing goes for background music - is there a way to get it as a file?

yes there is a way..
The files you are looking for are in VTS_xx_0.VOB. Demux per Cell ID and you will have them. You can use VobEdit for it.
