I get a copy protection error...
in 3.1, the error would occur when I asked it to backup
in 3.2, the error occurs 50% through the backup
any help?
thanks,

Have you tried ripping your title with DVDDecrypter, then processing in Shrink?
Search the One Clicks forum on "copy protection", etc., and see if some of those returns don't match your problem.

hi,
please tell us the exact error, or even better, run a search on it through the forum! i'm sure there's no dvdshrink error that hasn't been encountered/ dealt with in this forum before!
it's hard to tell without the exact error message but i know some people encountered copyright errors when the region code of the dvd didn't match the region code of their dvd drive!
also a missing ASPI layer might be the source of your problem!

did a search and came up with naught...
its a copy protection error...
This is using 3.1 but I get the same error in 3.1 and 3.2 although in different spots in the encode... normally at the start or 50% thru...

ok here's what a search for "dvdshrink copy protection error" brought up :)
http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=713073&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending
anyway, to sum up:
most likely it's due to the fact that your disk is scratched or dirty, or maybe has a corrupted ifo file in it!
please try to rip it with dvddecrypter in ifo mode, then mount the dvd with deamon tools, then rip again!
i think that really should solve the problem and i don't think it's too much trouble! also do you encounter this problem with a specific disk or several different ones?

definately not a scratched disc... it does it with new ones too...
only get this error in 3.1 and 3.2
3.0 always works and my mates reckon 3.2 has better compression, so I wanna use it...
When I searched it didn't come up with half of those and the ones it did come up with didn't help... just like those

Persevere! It sometimes feels like looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack, but it's in there somewhere. If none of the advice you've been handed works, keep re-defining your search terms until you hit on one that leads you to the fix. When running searches, it's sometimes as important to guess what other's have used as a search argument as it is to arrive at your own "best possible description". "Copy protection error", "Shrink freezes", "Stuck at 48%", etc., are just a few of the possible thread titles that this problem could be posted under, so if you're searching thread titles, you wouldn't know that your answer lies there if it doesn't match the title that your mind has given to the problem, or perfectly describe your scenario in a few short words.
The search engine is the best friend that any of us Netbums have at our disposal...it just needs to be massaged a bit if it doesn't spit out your fix on the first try. Under *Search Options*, try using the *Show results as posts* option--it takes a little more time to go through these, but you'll be able to see a synopsis of the advice offered within an individual post that uses your exact search term. Softeee, softee......
Check out this Sticky (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?threadid=34502) from the dvdshrink.info site.
If you're not using Shrink to burn your backups, try unchecking *Enable burning with Nero* in the *Edit > Preferences > Nero* or *File I/O* menu. You can still burn with Nero, so don't worry if this is your burning software of choice.
I've also seen it suggested to rip with DVDDecrypter in File Mode and then process in Shrink to solve this one, but I doubt that this will do the trick if you've failed in ISO Mode with the Daemon mount as Mr. Killingspree suggested. Both methods should work equally well once the problem's straightened out.
Check back and let us know how you solve this.
