Hi,
I've never had a problem with the AVIs that Gordian Knot produces with muxed VBR MP3's in them. I'd like to encode my own videos without using GKnot.
When I try to add a VBR MP3 stream to my AVIs in the latest VDubMod, I'm asked if I want to rewrite the MP3 header because it might provide better compatability.
"What would GKnot do?" :D
Does GKnot "click" on Yes or No here? Does it rewrite the MP3 header?

click on "no" if you want to keep synch...
it doesnt the rewrite the MP3 header though, but the waveformatex header in the avi file

use da 'yes' opotion.
i have no ideea if it rewrites the mp3 header. i suggest using yes when using virtualdub mod both when muxin sound to video as well as when doing the append segment stuff. virtual dub can't reencode sound.
when using virtaldub and you want to reencode sound don't do the reencoding of the sound using vbr or abr with da video. demux sound. edit it the way you want it. compress the image and then do the muxing. it should be in sync this way.
other wise the sound will not be in sync with the image.

Click no. It'll work anyway, so no worries. If you click yes you will lose synch, and anyway, you'd be better off encoding CBR from the start in that case.

VDub CAN encode sound and you should click no.

sorry for da very big mistakes
think i was thinking with my left foot
as stephanV said you should use NO. like in don't rewrite the vbr header.
and sorry again. virtualdub CAN reencode sound. virtualdub mod CAN'T.
i still stick to my ideea: you should not reencode image with a vbr mp3 sound attached to it.
sorry again for my incoherence.
peace!

virtualdubmod can encode audio too :p
streams-->streams list
right click on the stream, select full processing mode, right click again and select a compression
