Mismatch length between Scenarist and CCE

I wanted to reencode the video part of a commercial dvd9 so it could fit on a single dvd5. By curiousity, I demultiplexed the entire m2v stream and directly imported it in scenarist to see the exact length.
It showed 02:12:10:39.

I wanted to frameserve to CCE with DVD2AVI but back again in CCE main window, it now showed my video length as 02:12:10:29.

I checked the know bugs in DVD2AVI and I noticed it dropped certain frames. I move to DGIndex to do my framserving. It slightly corrected the problem but in CCE it shows the video as 02:12:10:37.

How do I know which frames have been dropped. If they are at the end of the stream it won't cause any audio sync. problem but if they are from the beginning of the stream, audio sync. problems will appear.


So what is exaclty happening ? Why does the video length mismatch from Scenarist to the one frameserved by DGIndex ?

Encode and import into Scenarist. I bet the length of the encoded video will be correct. Scenarist sometimes "adds" 1 or 2 frames at th end (i.e. counts more frames than there really are), don't know why that happens. The IFO files generated by Scenarist are always right, though.

Well, I tried numerous times without success. There's always a difference in time.
My material to encode is 16:9 progressive. I also tried different way of encoding.

1- Serving @ 23,976 fps and encoding in CCE and doing pulldown after.
2- Serving @ 29,97 and doing if it was interlaced material in CCE.

=> Same problem.

Overall it is practically impossible to find what frames have been added (or removed).

I'll try doing a backup of a short movie I already own and see if the difference in time cause any problem with audio. sync. I'll post my results as soon as it will be finished.
