View Full Version : AVI-->DVD: MPG, MPA Files?

I used dvd2svcd to convert an AVI to DVD format. I've got Tmpgenc as an encoder. I thought I'd end up with the AUDIO_TS/VIDEO_TS file structure, but have MPG, WAV, MP2 and MPA files instead.
Can I burn these files onto a DVD using Nero, or do I have to process them through another step to get the VIDEO_TS files first?
BTW: It took about two days (48 hours) to convert an 800MB AVI on a 2.4MHz Pentium with 1G memory and fast hard drives. Does that sound about right?

To tackle your points one by one...
I thought I'd end up with the AUDIO_TS/VIDEO_TS file structure
You should end up with a folder named "DVD-Files" within your output folder. This will contain the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. You can even select to have an ISO disc image made which makes burning even easier.
but have MPG, WAV, MP2 and MPA files instead.
Many files created during the conversion process are retained. These help track problems or allow you to recover from a crash at any stage in the conversion.
Can I burn these files onto a DVD using Nero?
Not the MPG, MP2 etc. Obviously if the VOBs were created these can be burned. If they were not something probably went wrong somewhere down the line.

It sounds an awful long time to me. Not sure of possible reasons why it should take so long. Read the Mandatory Read sticky in the stickies index to see how to structure a problem post. Then :logfile:
Hope this helps

Well I think that is completly "impossible" on normal circunstances... something is wrong with your computer.
Let me guive you an example, I made a convertion of Harry Potter I and II (it was for my kid lol) and each one of them took me about 4 hours on a AMD XP 2000+
