My 16x Liteon 163D DVD drive is only reading at 1.3x with DVDdecrypter all of a sudden. I'm going to try and upgrade the firmware, but no idea why it's happening. Help!

Thanks:angry:

dvddecryp will only read as fast as it can write... are you writing to your hard drive?

is it scsi, ide, eide? 4500rpm, 7200rpm, 10000rpm, 15000rpm?

try defragging your drive maybe... maybe you have alot of crap sitting on it.

I've noticed that writing is significantly faster via a USB 2.0 or firewire hard drive (i guess there is less bottleneck thru the usb interface).

Your problem may not be your dvd drive at all :)

Make sure DMA is enabled on your IDE channels.

Yeah, delete your ide controller in Device Manager and reboot.

That'll fix DMA for you.

hi

i already had this problem with my compaq dvd114

if your dvd is allready DMA try this :
i flashed the firmware then it (became a pinoeer in my device manager) works fine at 10x (the vendor maximum speed)

then try this page
http://forum.rpc1.org/

good luck

just follow the instructions on the link i gave bellow :
they provide firmwares for most of dvd players, and they explain how to flash (each method depend of your vendor)
visit http://www.bootdisk.com to make a clean (without config) boot floppy to flash in dos mode...

anyway, in the first link i gave they explain very well everything...
