subtitle problem

When I use dvd2svcd preview option the subtitle keep coming up in random order and at different places in the film. DVD2SVCD never did this before and I'm trying to figure out what I did. The movie plays fine, and it's just in DVD2SVCD that this happens. I haven't tried encoding it yet because I don't want to waste the time until I figure out what happened. I'm running xp, 2ghz pentium.
