u r going to burn a few coasters but thats part of the game. Nero has a tedency to pick which system will it work and which it wont no matter what. In mine it never did.

Assuming that u have created a valid titleset, complete with its folders, ifo, bups and vobs, u won't need anything else than a reliable burning prog.

If u experience difficulties with nero give a try to imgtools classic, its freeware and never failed anyone.

Can someone tell me if this is the right order in burning a DVD? Because I dont think it is because its what I did and it didnt work.

1.Decrypt the DVD
2.Attempt to burn DVD

Can someone tell me what I did wrong or maybe how to make what I decrypted not so big because thats what one of the errors where. It said the DVD+R was not big enough, when infact it is.

I know im doing somehting wrong please help me!

Well, you had a good start and you finish in the right place, but you've left out a few moves in the middle. The title of your thread says it, a visit to the Basics (http://www.doom9.org/dvd-basics.htm) will get you on the road to understanding more of your new hobby! :)

A good entry level program that many of us have used to get started for making DVD backups is DVDShrink (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm). This is a link to the Doom9 Shrink guide, more info and tutorials can be found at DVDShrink.info (http://dvdshrink.info). Keep after it!

this way only works with dvd5s - fortunately most commercial dvds you buy today are dvd9 - therefore you get (at max) twice the amount of data on it! for backup purposes this complicates the task quite a bit though! as ammck55 said already you'll have to recompress the dvd before you can burn it to a dvd-r (which infact is a dvd5), only very few, mostly rather old or cheap dvds are still dvd5 - so chances are you won't encounter too many of them!

Ok well I finally was able to backup one of my movies.(I only have 150+ more to go :) )

One problem has come up though. I have burned a total of 3 of my movies onto a burnable DVD. After ever burn I check if the DVD works on my DVD player/Computer & PS2. It works 100% everytime. But lately the burned DVD's do not work on my PS2. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was? I really need help because the PS2 is in my room, and thats where I hang out usually. I'm thinking it may be the DVD disk that I bought and I was wondering maybe if there are certain burnables that work better on DVD's then others? Any help would be great. :)

Edit-I also notice that some DVD's I burn, when I play back the burnt DVD the audio for the voices does not show up. You get to hear the background and music but when they say something it does not show up. I'm thinking this may be due to alot of stuff on the DVD. And even after "Shrinking" it there is still alot of stuff on it. So do you think its just the movie im trying to burn or that there are way to many extras and stuff like that on the DVD or is that a certain thing you need to do to make sure the audio fits the voices?

true, some media and players simply do not work together! on www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers there's a huge database of users experiences with player - media combiation! check out the ps2 there to see if your media might be the problem! here's the direct link to the ps2 page: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=445&Search=Search&#comments

wait a sec, what you are describing is technically not possible! the audio is presented in one file, so either you backup all of it, or none of it!
i remember though that i had the same problem once! it turned out to be a decoding problem with ac3filter! somehow the decoder had gotten screwed up (maybe it was me, i don't know) but after reinstalling the decoder everything worked out ok!
anyway, i guess there should be a slight chance that somehow the audio file itself got broken (maybe the center channel - where, after all, most of the voices come from!) - just guesses though! also check your center speaker!
