DVD Rip Size

I have a question about the size of a DVD rip. I use DVD Decoder, and on one of my DVD's, it gives me a rip thats roughly 7.4GBs, about 2x the capacity of the DVD(its not dual layer). Is this normal and if it is a bug, how do I fix it. Thx.

I assume you mean DVD Decrypter and not DVD Decoder?

What 'mode' are you ripping in? IFO, File, ISO?

None of them will rip stuff that doesnt exist so either you've come across a disc with some protection in the file system (dummy files) or it really is dual layer.

i think it's IFO(i press "I" when I open it, like GKnot says to. Its really wierd tho, cause the movie has two parts, and only the first disc does this. The second disc didn't and worked quite nicely.

Ahh so ripping a single PGC in IFO mode gives you 7.x gig of data?

If you've ripped multiple PGCs, I could expect them to give you files of that size. Different PGCs can address the same physical data, but maybe taking a slightly different route. You'd just need to find out which PGC is the one you want.

If you only ripped one, I give up! lol
