View Full Version : DVD2DVD Move Freeze Problem...

... hi all.

I'm using DVD2SVCD (DVD2DVD) to back up my extensive DVD collection, and for the most part I'm having no problems whatsoever.

I'm not doing complete backups, just movie only backups to 4.3gb DVDs.

My DVD's are all PAL dvd's, and I'm basically using the default settings that DVD2DVD is set to except I set the number of passes to 5, turn off DVD rip (movies already on the HDD when i use DVD2DVD), and set the subtitles I want.

Now as I said, this is usually fine, and I normally just burn to DVD when complete, which has thusfar produced 2 coasters, but ones with a strange 'problem' none-the-less.

The only two movies I've had problems with thusfar are 'Last Action Hero' and 'Predator' (both PAL) and the problem is really strange.

Being played on the PC the movies freeze at the start till they get to a certain time frame (5 secs LAH) (2 secs PREDATOR) and then they just start from that time (i.e. on load LAH freezes for 5 seconds and then goes to the five second mark and the movie plays the movie from there no 1, 2, 3, 4 are counted in the player).

It's when I play the DVD's on the TV that the problem arrises. The disks stutter upon insertion to the point where the movie freezes, but if I skip forward 1 chapter (past the start) they play fine.

This is a really annoying problem, and I cant think what's causing it.

I've included the ten seconds from the start of the Predator encode (minus all subs, and all but one sound track) I did so people can get a clear idea of the problem.

This is the one that pauses for just a second at the start, and begins from 2 seconds, but this is enough for it to mess up in the TV player.

Hmmm.
Which version of DVC2SVCD?
If it is the latest (1.2.2 B1), are you using Scenarist or DVDAuthor to author the discs?

Hi.

I have had the same problem with once upon a time in america disc 2.

The DVD-player automaticly jumps to 16 seconds when inserted. And it created some audio synch issues when converted, using DVD2DVD.

I had to delay the audio file and subs file with approximately 1500ms. (Did it with the program called AC3 delayer v.2)

To find this value, I tried encreasing values starting from 1000ms. Then 1100 and so on (all done in ac3 delayer).

But of course if you know its aout of synch with 5000ms then you should'nt start with 1000ms..

Oh and by the way 1000ms=1 sec in case you did'nt know :-)

Hopes it helps you out!

Thanks for the replys.

Nick: I'm using version 1.2.2 build 1 and DVD Author to answer your questions.

mcmanuf: I figured it would be a synching issue, and be DVD2SVCD lack of recognising it or something... but how can I fix it.

Out of interest, if I load of DVD2AVi and create a project file extracting the audio the files I get are:

Predator: AC3 T01 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY -111ms.ac3

Last Action Hero: AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3

Well as I said i used ac3 delayer.

Try to delay the predator sound file with 111ms.

To test just call the audio and the video file the same thing.

Ex.
predator.m2v
predator.ac3

If its wrong by 1 second, insert 1000ms in "ac3 delayer".
For exampel.
You hear arnold say "come and get me", the sound that is, and one second later he moves his mouth.

Or he moves his mouth and then the sound appears say 2seconds after.

You then insert -2000 in start delay in "ac3 delayer".
