Okay as my user id points out, i am new to this dvd burning stuff so, tell me what is the difference in DVD+R & DVD-R? I am in need new dvds and i am not sure what to buy. I burn with a HP 420I. if that helps you any.

Also, i keep seeing people talking about media code. for example ritek, r03 and r02, where do you find a "media code" and what are they for? I am currently using verbatim datalife dvd+r bought from sam's club. Thanks so much

A "standard" DVD-R disc is more compatible in a wider range of standalone players than a "standard" DVD+R disc.
A DVD+R disc with booktype set to DVD-ROM (aka bitsetting) is the most compatible disc that you can make.
