Hello, i notice my dvd burner supports 4x burning as do the tdk media. Now i was wondering if having the dvd burner and a hard disk on the same ide, would that make it burn at 1x ?

No, it shouldnt.

If you're having speed problem, go into device manager and delete (uninstall) your IDE controller. Reboot and everything should be fine again.
