Do THIS (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdencoding.htm) then THIS (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdauthoring.htm). I recommend you use TMPG to convert then IfoEdit to author.

The first "this" leads to encoding software, but TMPG link leads to instructions about encoding dvd to avi. Can TMPG be used to convert AVI to DVD. Even better is there software which will do it all without using loads of different programmes?

Yes it is. NeroVision Express 2 will do the trick.

Peter,
You did not mention which dvd burning software you have ... but Nero 6 will do this conversion for you.
Just start Nero, chose create a dvd and drag your avi file to Nero. I've done it myself (just today, actually).

Nice one Terry - thanks. I deleted all recording software when I installed my drive, but have never got around to re-installing nero. Must do it and give it a go. Cheers.
