DELL Precision 530 DV capture

Does anyone know why I´m unable to perform DV capture using embedded firewire on DELL? I´ve already checked my BIOS and everything is fine, I can use these ports to connect other devices but I just can´t use them for DV capture.

From my experience there's usually no problem to connect DV camcorders via firewire, no matter whether you've got a 4-pin to 6-pin or a 4-pin to 4-pin connector.

I could not connect my external HDD to my notebook via firewire, though, because the notebook has a 4-pin plug only, and the HDD needs a 6-pin connection.

By the way: are you talking about connecting a DV camcorder, or is it about another DV device (e.g. Canopus ADVC-100)?

I tried to connect a Sony DSR-11 DV Recorder.
A device like an external HDD works perfectly, or an external DVD recorder. It´s just impossible to perform DV capture even using AVID XpressDV or such simple apps like WinDV.

I purchased a Firewire card and installed it in a DELL Precision 340 and it worked fine, just doesn´t work with embbeded ports of DELL Precision 530.

I´ve already contacted DELL support but I guess I'm being ignored...they just didn´t answer and phone support doesn´t solve my problem, they say if it works with other devices so it´s all fine. After spending 20K in DELL Systems that´s quite hard to get.
