This may be the wrong forum but ...

Does anyone know of a free program to convert SWF files to MPG. I have just a handful of shockwave videos that I'd like to convert and burn as VCDs.

Thanks in advance,

Terry

I think this is only possible with a screen capture like hypercam

If import isn't turned off in the SWF, you can always import it into Flash then turn right around and use the Movie Export feature. Assuming you export to Huffy or some other kind of high quality file, you can then encode it using your favorite MPEG encoder.

Of course if import IS turned off in the SWF you can always "disable" that using certain tools, but this isn't the forum for that. ;)

That won't give you the results you want though.

Only free way I know of is the VFAPI quicktime plugin and quicktime only supports flash 5 or lower.

Other than that there are a few products that have demos.

Maybe these tools could help you ...

Good luck

I tried the freeware but it says that the file I'm trying to convert is "compressed".

I'll just go ahead and purchase the demo I've downloaded.

Thanks again,

Terry

http://buraks.com/swifty/

Here you will find a tool called "Swifty Compress and Swifty Uncompress". It's a freeware tool that allows you to do precisely what the name says. ^_^
