Does anyone know how to get to that security tab? Interestingly enough, my two PCs at work have it, none of my private PCs does, but right now I kinda need it as a stupid non multi-user capable app forces me to give more rights to a user. Needless to say all machines run NTFS only so the menu can't be there because there's no security on the filesystem

I only run German versions of XP, but maybe we can get there...

In the system control panel ('Systemsteuerung') there is an icon for 'folder preferences'. Open this one. On the second tab you should find a checkbox saying something like 'use simple file shares' ('einfache Dateifreigabe verwenden'). I hope that helps you somewhat. I cannot check for the correct translations, we don't have English Windows versions here, sorry.

I know where that is.. and it does what it should.. it's strange though.. on my work PCs I have simple file sharing enabled, yet the security tab is still available.

Anyway, thank you.

I guess it is enabled by default if you join a Windows domain (would make some sense). I'm glad to be of help.
