software used:

dif4u 1.4.7
scenarist 3
latest versions of scenaid (.27), numenu4u rc1, batchcce, ifoupdate and ifoedit.

Setup dif4u and numenu4u using the configs stated in new big 3 guide.

dif4u successfully process the DVD image and have created the VTSes. I have to edit the .avs as the source is PAL.

Batchcce successfully finished and then proceeded to scenaid.

Scenaid is a little bit different than the one used in the guide. I used the following options in scenaid (under sub handling):

1. "original palette"
2. "white text"
3. non-selected

Everything else is default.

Scenarist successfully created the .vobs and proceeded to ifoupdate and ifoedit.

For ifoupdate, I tried 2 options:

1. old big 3 guide options
2. new big 3 guide options

If you look at the 2 guides, the options used are different.

Well my problem lies with subtitles. Here are the results when viewed inside ifoedit:

1. "original palette" - black background/text and white outline
2. "white text" - black background/text/outline (I can't see anything)
3. non-selected - black background/text and white outline

It doesn't matter which ifoupdate settings I used. But I tried anyway hoping it would make a difference.

Can someone please help?

thanks for the replies.

well i am sure D3s7 will want to take a look at why your subs are messed up but as i explained to you on irc, it is also a simple process to change the substream colours in scenarist. if you read the guide i linked you to, it should be a relatively simple process. if you get stuck, lets us know and we can provide additional details

cheers

When I opened the simulation window, I can't see the subtitle.

How do I enable it?

I have main video, audio1 and subpic1 selected.

I'm not sure if this matters but the menus have been processed through numenu4u. So I assume that numenu4u has modified the .ifo files.

1) did you rip this movie BEFORE upgrading to scenaid .27?

2) If no, did you install the custom vsrip/vsconv that came with scenaid .27?

If 1: No 2: Yes, I need to see the .ifo / 1 .sst / .scp files generated to see what's going on - you can zip them up and email them to me

1. No

2. custom vsrip/vsconv is ticked by default during installationg of .27. I didn't not change that.

email on tomorrow. have to reprocessed them.

just a question on the files being asked. What ifo files do you need? The ones generated by scenarist or the ones from "VIDEO_TS".

I need the IFO in the VTS directory... (original)

so if your working with VTS01 I need VTS_01_0.IFO from the VTS01 directory.... as well as one of the .sst files for VTS01 as well as the .SCP file generated

When I opened the simulation window, I can't see the subtitle. How do I enable it? to view subtitles in the simulation window you use the pink 'arrows' to move back and forth between any consequitive subpicture.
you can then use the 'show original subpic' button 'pink rectangle -without a T'. make sure in the 'track tab' of the simulation window, you have the correct subpic stream selected.
you can then toggle between the subpic and display colour (dark blue rectangle) as you make changes to the display colours.
