Demuxing AVI w/o video?

Is it possible to demux an AVI file that only has 1 stream that is audio in VDub/VDubMod? Whenever you try to open it you get a "No video stream" error, preventing any furthor editing/demuxing. I thought of muxing in some bogus video using graphedit and then opening it in VDub and the saving the wav under the streams list. However, I know there has to be an easier way to do it in VDub or possibly another (free) program, so if you have any ideas please post 'em. Thanks in advance!

P.S. - I already tried to demux it w/ Avi-mux but it refuses to open the file because a video stream does not come first.

Well I found a rather roundabout way of doing it, but it was easier than muxing in video, so I guess I'll post it here. I remuxed the avi into a mkv container and then used mkvextract to extract the stream. Still a pain, but it worked. Anybody who knows of an easier way, feel free to post it :D
