I don't really know what section to put this under, but since I am encoding using xvid, I figured here was good enough. I recently found out about this program called motion perfect by DynaPel. It sounds really interesting. It supposedly interpolates frames in between the frames that are already there when you change the framerate on a video or something like that. Basically, it can make a video almost any framerate smoothly. This is a very interesting idea to me because I encode a lot of anime and a smooth conversion every time from 29.97 to 23.976 fps is very appealing. Before I even think of shelling out my hard earned cash for this program ($50), I need to know if it works. Also, if it's effects on encoding anime are any good. The test videos on the website are very convincing.

Also, is there any other program like Motion Perfect, or some other way to acheive the same effect? I wonder. Or is this program just some cheap copout for lazy people(like me)?

So, if anybody has used this program for anime, and knows if it acutally works as well as it's supposed to, please let me know, I just might have to buy it and end all my troubles with framerate conversions.

have you tried the framerate conversion filters in avisynth! i've never used the program you mentioned, nor heard about it, but avisynth produces quite acceptable results if tweaked a bit...

edit: ok they do provide a trial version, so i suggest you just give it a try, compare the results with the video processed in avisynth and just decide if the better results, if they truly are better, are worth the 50 bucks

just my 2 cents though

I think that MotionPerfect program is quite good (never used myself). If you will be using it a lot then you probably won't regret parting with the $50.

The only thing that may suit your needs maybe the relatively new MVTools by Manao for AviSynth:

or DePan by Fizick:

killingspree: I have tried just about all the options, and for some of the hybrid 120 fps raws that I have to deal with, just about nothing that I know of will do a great job.

Also, the trial version doesn't work for me, it just encodes the first second of footage. A buddy of mine had the same problem with it.

Bogalvator: I'll check out those tools you mentioned, I haven't heard of them before. But from the looks of it, motion perfect does seem very good, some of the sample videos that they put up are just amazing.
