AVI to Divx

Any one used XMPEG? I am trying to open AVI (from my miniDV capture) to make it Divx. Though this prog seems unable to open AVI files.

Any sugestions?

AVI is a container, DivX a codec. You´re asking how to turn an apple into an orange, do you know that?

Unless you mean the DivX container, which isn´t in use anymore, AFAIK.

[edit]Perhaps it´s a DV AVI? There seems to be a different kind of AVI from such cameras, programs like VirtualDub can´t open it. Perhaps the same situation here?

DV can either be captured as Type-1 or Type-2 .avi files. You'll find lots of information (and help) in the DV Forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=59), which is where I am moving this thread.
