While authoring our first project on Windows XP (SP1), we got a failure message for the first time in the history of using Scenarist. The error log follows:

Prior to purchasing the Pioneer 107D (A07 OEM), we made sure that other folks were using that burner with Scenarist 2.7. Positive responses from several. So we wonder if the problem is Win XP. A lot of applictions seem to run poorly on XP, including the new Premiere and AfterEffects. But we've been writing DVDs with Nero without incident. This evening we tried to write as usual from Scenarist, but were surprised that it failed.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

How old is that version of the software you have or which version you use?

But could be a problem with SP1 maybe.
Using SP2 would bring even more problems I believe.
There is an "compatibility mode" (right-click on the executable, preferences), maybe you could use/try that with the w2000 setting?

As I mentioned in my post above, it's version 2.7.

I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the instructions on the Pioneer 107D and Scenarist, or if the problem is a known issue with XP.

I will experiment with compatibility modes next. Although I've had exactly zero success with compatibility mode on four other software packages that don't work properly on XP. Sometimes I think Compatibility Mode is just a gimmick that is more placebo than panacea. :o

Yeah, well, but worth a try...

I set the compatibility to Windows 2000 last night and tried to burn a DVD from Scenarist 2.7. It failed with the same error. I really wonder if the Pioneer 107D even works with this application now. I have a hunch it's not entirely XP's fault.
Scenarist doesn't rely on XP's built-in CD burning services, does it? It just occured to me that I disabled that service a long time ago to free up resources for Premiere Pro and AfterEffects, both of which overtax our XP2600+ systems.
Naw, that can't be... but I thought I'd mention it just in case someone here is aware of a connection between the two.
