Hi ppl
Whats the best solution to all these in once?
- Modify Menu (change the english text to Persian which I know how to do it by photoshop or premiere)
- Add New Subtitle (or replace)
- Re-Encode the movie and compress DTS file to fit in dvd5
My Background:
I know this might a be a silly question and request but actually I tried to read some ScenAid and Scenarist tutorial on site which there was couple of DVD copying and VERY complex for me to understand, I've been working with Adobe Encore and DVD-Lab (just a bit) I am familiar stracture of dvd and encoding configurations.
My Questions:
- Is it really work with current existing tutorials?
- Any Extra tools that I should consider?
Any help is highly appreciated
you can't modify a menu, you have to rebuild it. in fact that menus are only pictures, it will also be difficult just to change the text. you have to take a picture editing tool like Photoshop to create a menu picture yourself.
the existing tutorials should be enough for your plans. there are tutorials explaining re-encoding (hint: use MPEGSource() in AviSynth ;)) and authoring with all the popular DVD authoring tools.
for compressing the audio streams I'd advice BeSweet. anyway, there should also exist tutorials for that.

well I can easily make them again in PHOTOSHOP and Encore and even if they're animated buttoms I can rebuild it in Premiere but the problem is that ENCORE does not support DTS, is it possible to make it with dummy audio track and then after compiling dvd , multiplex DTS track into it again? the reason I am insist on encore is that is quite handy comparing to Scenarist, in scenarist Remodifying PSD after import is very headache...
Thanks for your prompt reply
yes, Scenarist does not glow in flexiblity with importing data - it sticks to standards. ;)
but in fact you want to use DTS audio and Encore doesn't support it, you have to use Scenarist or at least another authoring tool.
maybe IfoEdit or so can [re-]multiplex a DVD with DTS audio streams, i'm sorry, i don't know about it.
btw, why do you use psd-images for menus? they have to be encoded anyway and the layers are lost - why not use jpg and bmp? (bmp for the subpic, when i use jpg i get problems with color mapping)

thanks in advance for your reply
I will try encore with my remultiplexing of DTS audio and see if it is possible , basically I was thinking to make AC3 dummy track and then after compiling replace it with original DTS, anyway
the reason I rather to import psd is because its able to modify after I make it and re-encode it again so I won't have to export bmp or tif and doing replacement all the time and less headache in that...
today I've been modifying existing menu for Kill Bill to persian language and I spend the whole day on it and still alot to do...

You might want to take a look at DVDRemake.
With this you can replace menu background with your own. Not directly, but you can replace any menu cell, with a menu cell you created yourself.
I've made custom menu's myself for custom subbed discs quite often, where I want to keep the orignal menu, but just alter the subtitle selection background.
If you do it this way, it means you don't have to figure out the complete menu structure yourself.
You just alter the background where you want the Persian text (or replace it with a completly different background), remap the button lay-out, and you'll have a custom menu, with exactly the same structure, pre/post-commands, etc. If you replace the english subs with the persian subs, there's really no need for any comprehension about the original menu, you can just re-map the button that was first for english to now suit your persian subs.
PM me, and I can give you a guide on how to do this. It's written for DVD Maestro, but any authoring application will do. The main point of the guide is how to rip the original menu (to get background, music, button sub-picture, button commands, etc.
For the compiling of your custom menu cell (which you then use to replace an original part of the menu) you can use any application you want.
You can download a test version of DVDRemake at www.dimadsoft.com.
It's only limited in the fact that you can't export the disc, but you can try the entire process to see if it's a good way of accomplishing what you want.
