DivX 5.2 Decoding

Maybe the following situation is in direct regards to my PC and that of my girlfriend (as both systems are nearly identical)

Matrox G450 Driver: 5.86.032 (I think this one may be related)
Win2KPro
WindowsMediaPlayer6.4 (&MediaPlayerClassic6.4.82)

With 5.11 there never was anything like my experience now with 5.2:
If I enable the OverlayMode in QualitySettings (So Far in previous versions I had all options checked (except generic mpg)) the Codec is not visible anymore through the Files-Properties Dialog of the MediaPlayer (or for Classic the Filters Dialog), though it still is visible in all encoding Apps and in the Systems VideoCodecs HardwareManager Page.
As Soon as I disable it again it becomes visible in both players again. And for WindowsMediaPlayer alone (not classic), but this behaviour I could not track down to a particular quality setting (though it haven't happened yet with none taged), most of the time the task is not released once I close the application (so I cannot start another instance of it (haven't tried what happens if I set it to open a player for each file played and not only one). As said the last behaviour I cannot track down to a particular setting, but is one I have not experiencend in previous times.

Can anyone share the experience, or may it be related to the rather old Matrox Card (wich I would find strange in a way as it worked so far, but maybe there was something changed to the overlay use - but then why should the Decoder be missing in the Players Dialogue :sigh: ) ?

But the clip does play back fine, just not with DivX decoder filter ?

If it is so, what was the resolution of the clip, and did you try with other clips ? I remember vaguely that matrox ( G400 at least, G450 perhaps ) weren't supporting overlay whose width wasn't dividable by 32.

A) I mean that (I have a german Windows installed, so I must guess the proper english names for the tabs/menu) when a Video is played and I access the File->Properties Dialogue, on the Advanced Tab

The List is, with Overlay Disabled:
Default Direct Sound Device
DivX Decoder Filter
MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
Video Renderer
And with Overlay Enabled:
Default Direct Sound Device
MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
Video Renderer

Though, it plays back fine... (and XVid is, as is DivX set to only playback its own FourCC, and no FFDShow installed (in case someone may ask))

B) It happens on a new 5.2 encode and some older ones (down to 5.02) I have still kept on my HD, the sizes varies (all divedable by 16, so the 32 may be a problem - wait I will see wether there is one that is... ah yeah, 608/32=19... yup happens with them also... ASFAIK I cannot remember any restrictions to Matrox' Overlay (maybe with pure odd numbers) from my MURC (main MatroxUsers Forum before they set up their own) times - but I think the OverlaySpecs is one topic I should research there again (just to be sure)...


Edit: Ok, there seem to be some confusion about the topic as
in this [url=http://forums.matroxusers.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36350&highlight=Overlay+G450] at first that "overlay" problem was also mentioned, but later turned out to be a VRam problem instead.... but as the topic for that thread infact is that the Overlayoutput is garbled (wich for me it never was - and as DVD Max works on overlay (again: for my tests I had it enabled&disabled to make sure) I assume that my current problem isn't directly related to that one (at least not the /32, overlay in general maybe - but it still works on overlay even if the filter is not displayed)


EDIT: SORRY! Hot Summersday&too much :coffee: - If I enable DVDMax the Filter is there... disabled it is not... (but the size isn't a problem, they all are displayed fine (on Monitor&TV(if Overlay is used(if not theres nothing for the DVDMax function to capture))-> So at least that is a Matrox Problem....
But then the Overlay Code of DivX must have changed, as I only encounter that phenomena now and not earlier ;) [sigh, time to check for specs again - was DirectX9 needed for 5.2, nope just 7 - phew] ...

Thanks for the hint at Overlay-requirements (as only that gave me the idea to actually check with DVDMax) :D
