Hi
I just reinstalled my os, and wanted to ask, if you could suggest good codec packs... if possible, the best codec pack :)
Before, I just installed them manualy, but recently I had some errors with Tmpgenc, which I think are because of the codecs.

And question 2:
Is there a program, or a Java applet or something like this, that can make a good file-size-estimate for VBR encodings?
thx

oh, and just in case the errors are not because of the codec, but becuase of tmpgenc, is there a good alternative for making files in dvd quality?

Use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack , always use this one and have had no problems with it, plus they have the Mega, Full, Medium and Small (floppy size).

Its perfect!

Depends if you want a co-dec pack (general bad idea) or simply a decoder pack. In that case try the satsuki decoder pack. Run a search for it, you'll find a thread here.(there even is a pack maker to let you download filters as you need them, quite nifty)
If you want to encode too, couple it with the gordian knot codec pack, that ought to be quite safe :)
It all depends on your system, and what players you use, for example media player classic has a ton of internal splitters, so you wouldn't really need too much extra installed, whereas if you use WMP you'd need different stuff and so on.
Rule of the thumb, better less than more, it's easier to add an extra filter than reformat your system ;)
