Select Even Produces Extra Frames

I'm testing a script to encode OTA HDTV (ABC 720p 60fps) to XviD. I have a 20 second ts from my Fusion II as the original. Muxing in the AC3 later. Here is the script:

decimate(cycle=5)

The encoding goes fine, except the final avi is not 20 seconds long it's now 47 seconds long! When I load this script into VDubMod it says it is 547 frames... the final avi comes out with the original 547 frames plus an extra 860 frames of nothingness (just looks like the last frame) at the end. Sure I can lop of the extra frames and everything is fine, but WHY???

When I load:

It shows up as 23 seconds long with 1435 frames. The final product comes out as 23 seconds and has 1435 frames. It and plays back in "slow motion" with two severe stutters. There are no "extra" frames at the end.

When I load:

It shows up as 23 seconds long with 718 frames. The final product comes out as 47 seconds and has 1435 frames. The first 23 seconds (718 frames) plays back a little jerky all the way through. The remaining 23 seconds (718 frames) is just nothingness (looks like the last frame).

When I load:

Just guessing here - if you edit the AVS file and then just hit F5 to refresh, you'll get this behaviour, as VDubMod ignores any change in the number of frames. If you restart VDubMod or hit F7 in the script editor to reopen the script, VDubMod has no choice but to notice that the input video length has changed and your problem should be gone.

No that doesn't really help. I'm always very careful to close the AVS in VDub before I edit it, then reopen the AVS after it's been saved.

Besides I'm really concerned with the final product. What's going on with double the length in seconds? And all the extra frames of nothingness?

I think I figured it out. While I was in fact closing, editing, then re-opening the avs... I was simply resetting the same saved 2-pass job and re-running it without deleting and recreating a new job each time I created a new avs.

Lesson learned! Fairly painless:)
