Sector Errors on DVD

I have a DVD that I wish to back up. It plays fine, both on hardware players, and on software players like WinDVD.

However, when I try to decrypting it with DVDShrink, after decrypting most of the film, near the end it aborts with "sector not found" error messages.

I tried backing it up to disk first with DVDDecrypter, and had the same problem.

I cleaned the disk, re-booted the computer (no background programs running), tried everything, cannot back-up this disc.

There obviously must be some sector errors, but if they are not bad enough to affect playback, why should they be so difficult for these copy programs to deal with?

Any suggestions?

It's a topic that could easily fit in either forum, I didn't know which one it was more relevant to. Certainly very relevant to this one.

It certainly could be a topic of interest to readers from both forums, and most readers probably do not read both. And there could be people with knowledge on how to deal with the problem, from either foru.
