I think I'm not the first one wondering about this problem, though I haven't found anything using the search of this board.

I have two menus and I want the background music to continue on switching between them.

For now it would also be enough if I could jump to second XX on entering one menu from the other.

I'm using Scenarist, anyone got a solution?

this is impossible, acording to current Dvd Spec.

each video, stillimage, still,-or motion menu or slideshow is a stram or "track" with audio stream or NOT ..

and each track (video only, - or + audio) will run in order as it is driven by video manager (VMG) or other commands

so You cannot create a situatition to run/playback 2 or more tracks
simulately .. (like You say .. same audio track will remain
playing if you change screen image or swicth to next menu :(

also if vido - (motionmenu)- track have audio both have to be exact same frame lenght ..

hm i don't want them to run at the same time ... the second menu should just start where the first one has ended.

if that doesn't work, is there at least a possibility to enter a menu at point xx.xx.xx:xx when it's called by a certain PGC?

if using scenarist
then [Post] command (JumpSS ; LinkPGCN;, or cell commands) depends on conditions, can do the automated { jumping to next or previos menu or title )

in Adobe Encore You have to set [end actions] and/or [override action] commands, also see (Setting timeline navigation)
but anyway, most precise control over this is available only in scenarist

sorry, (i am also beginner) - i did not exactly understand
[ a possibility to enter a menu at point xx.xx.xx:xx when it's called by a certain PGC? ]
i think, by creating special [cell command] maybe can do this job

still confused

but " menu " cannot be sliedshow track or can ?

A menu is a STILL or VIDEO image that includes one or more buttons (up to 36) .. + subpicture image used for button highlights

I'll say this slowly.
Y o u c a n n o t d o t h i s i n D V D - V.
I t i s o n l y p o s s i b l e i n D V D - A.

It violates the DVD-V spec, where the graphical content is dominant, and the audio is supplementary.
To do this in a slideshow you need to author for DVD-Audio, not DVD-Video.
Sorry.

Not even Scenarist is capable of changing this, it is part of the specs.

I can only confirm what neil wilkes said. This was documented in the manual of scenarit very clearly. You can design a (automatic)menu change whit psydo-continue music, but not for interactivity(button-event). So put your energy to anywhere else.
