View Full Version : Can't transcode DTS to 5.1 AAC, azidts issues

I have downloaded the latest versions of BeSweet (standard and DLL versions), azidts, OagMachine and have the latest nero in my PC from which I took the three DLLs needed for AA encoding. All of this has been put on the same folder. I also registered Gabest's DTSSource.ax and have WinDVD platinum installed. Thing is, when I start OagMachine, there's no "plugin path" option in the AAC config section. I don't see the Nero configuration window anywhere, and when I have everything set up and hit the "give me aac" button the a WinDVD config window appears in which I have to choose the speaker setup. After making a choice (6 speakers), the azidts DOS windows shows up and freezes at the start. A few seconds later, I get a Windows message telling me that azidts has encountered an error and must shutdown. Is there any way I could solve this problem?

Your problem is quite simple:
Latest BeSweet (1.5b29) comes with bsn.dll 0.24. Now, latest BeSweet.dll is 1.5b23 and only works with bsn.dll 0.2. If I remember correctly there was a thread in this forum not too long ago. Maybe someone is still hosting the older bsn.dll. I can send it to you, if you provide me an email address (please use PM). The plugin path thingie is not required and with latest Nero you only need aac.dll and aacenc32.dll in your BeSweet directory.
Cheers,
tiki4
P.S.: Please remember, that you have to resample your input with this version of bsn.dll as you get b0rked results otherwise.

All the information regarding problems with DTS to AAC transcoding can be found on this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77971&highlight=aac+dts
the link to a copy of bsn v0.2 can be found there as well.
Just wondering, was anyone able to fix those DTS to AAC transcoding issues yet?

Now it works. Everyone, thanks a lot for the answers :). Anybody knows why DSPGuru stopped supporting DTS transcoding?

DSPguru never supported DTS transcoding in his software - azidts uses BeSweet.dll, but is not written by DSPguru. DSPguru had mentioned support for libdts decoding in BeSweet, possibly as a plugin, but he's very busy lately.

I hope he can do that sometime in the future.

Giving this matter a second thought, not being able to really configure VBR settings and having to downsample to 44.1Khz has made me switch to DTSDec/FAAC. I have a problem though: I can't figure out how to use DTSDec. I have used the following line:
x:\path_to\dtsdec.exe -o wavall > KillBill.wav KBV1.dts
which doesn't work. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong? Also, where can I find good in-depth guides for dtsdec v0.2 and FAAC v1.24? I downloaded both from rarewares, and their readmes are either too skimpy or just nonexistant.

I found a pretty good explanation of FAAC's options here (http://faac.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=FAAC). I still need to find out a good dtsdec manual though.

dtsdec is just the example that comes with dtslib so it isn't too well documented, but IIRC there was a text files that explained how to use it

Hi all,
DTSDec. I have used the following line:
x:\path_to\dtsdec.exe -o wavall > KillBill.wav KBV1.dts
which doesn't work. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong?
to be honest - dtsdec never worked for me at all
The application crash with instant beeping, only a restart or cutting the cabel to the speaker stops this beeping
I donīt know for which OS this program is intended - obviously not for mine
BTW, have you ever tried to decode a DTSWAV (44.1khz) and split in six WAVs - I spent hours on this
If you use wav2dts you get trash; dtsdec crashes; besplit did a nice job on changing the header of the DTSWAV -> DTS - the files of course stay 44.1khz. Decoding them azidts leads to interesting sounding monofiles
last but not least Hypercube: makes a simular result because of 44.1 in DTSWAV <=> 48 DTS source file for decoding.
Meanwhile I gave up - maybe you guys on the board can show me my mistake - of course all needed apps WINDVD/DTSSOURCE... are installed.

if you get the beeping you have forgotten the ">"

One step closer to the maybe unreachable goal ;)
