Wedding DVD streched to fit 4:3

My son was married this weekeng and the church has a complete video system. They recorded the ceremonie in widescreen and gave us the DVD and video tape. The DVD when played on my 4:3 65" Mit. is stretched to fit the screen but the VHS tapes are in widescreen. Can I take the DVD, the quality is much better, and somehow put it back to widescreen format??

sounds like it was encoded anamorphic, but without the anamorph-flag

you can easily make a fixed copy

How do you fix or reflag??

rip the dvd, author a new dvd with the same streams and make sure the flag is set

my reply could be more detailed if you'd gvie some information on your experience and on what software you use

I have ripped to my hard drive using DVD Shrink, I also have TMPGEnc DVD Author. I have looked at each of these and do not see where you set a flag.

I used Ifoedit095 changed the info in VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO to 16:9, it worked.
