Removing black bars from DivX movies

Hi,

Can I remove black bars from a DivX movie without re-encoding audio/video. Please advise. I would like the black bars to be shown as a part of aspect ratio correction by the player but not as a part of the movie. I hope I am clear in explaining it :)

As far as I know you can't do as you ask without re-encoding.

There is however, a great tool you can use to alter the PAR and DAR of your Mpeg4 .avi's after you've encoded them and it's called MPEG4 Modifier... (http://www.moitah.net/)
