Tried it 3 times, always stops there
nothing is overclocked, cpu is totally idle apart from cce (which isnt doing anything)
any ideas?

same problem here with cce 2.50.
freezes at the same point every time. tried with the 1st 2 discs of six feet under season 2 and both freeze cce. going to try a previous version of Rebuilder.
Quantizer scale going above 100 causes CCE to stall, seen this myself. Try CCE 2.67 which is more robust in this situation. But the problem is mainly caused by a too low average bitrate for this video. What average bitrate did Rebuilder assign?

It was in the low 3000's, i put the extras on 50%, and the orginal disc is only 5.7gig with ilalian audio which i removed.

disc 1: 4740 bitrate average for main, no extras
disc 2: 3123 bitrate average for main, no extras
tried changing the # of passes from 4 to 6, both froze cce 2.50 on the last pass.
this is with .55b im tryin .54 now.

The version of DVD-RB won't make any difference, this is a CCE issue.
From the progress screen it looks like CCE is using a bitrate of 1.24 Mbps, which is low enough to encounter this error. Although he average bitrate for the disc might be 3000+ it appears this particular segment was given a lower one. Try using RB-OPT (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75202) to tweak this segment's bitrate.

Upgrading my cce seems to have fixed it *touch wood*
I went to 2.67
Here is the dvdrb log if anyone is intersted...

edit:can someone explain the bit in bold, is that the bitrate for the largest vts?

- Overall Bitrate : 3,465Kbs
Average bitrate for all the video, in all VTSs, to be re-encoded by CCE.
- Space for Video : 3,966,736KB
This is the space available for the re-encoded video. The basic formula is:
Total Target Size (usually 1 DVD-R)
- Audio tracks size
- Subs tracks size
- Mux overhead
- Size of Untouched VOBs (those too small to bother with and menu files)
-----------------------
Space for Video
- Movie improvement from extra reduction = 17.9%
If you have the 'Steal space from Extras" option under the MODE menu enabled DVD-RB will reduce the size of the smaller VTSs that are going to be re-encoded and give the space saved to the largest VTS (usually the main movie). This entry tells you how much of a boost the main move got from that process. So if you main movie would have normally gotten a 1000kbps bitrate, here it would have 1179kbps because it got a 17.9% boost.
- HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 5,617/996/3,465 Kbs
Each Cell is given a bitrate in proportion to the bitrate it has on the original disc. See this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=474936#post474936) for more details.
Here, DVD-RB is just telling you what the max/min/average re-encode bitrate for all cells. Of course the AVERAGE rate is the same as the Overall Bitrate given above.
If you want a more detailed breakdown you can use ecl optimiser (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75260) to get a nice breakdown. Just run the prepare step in 3 click mode and then open up the Rebuilder.inf or rebuilder.ECL from the D2VAVS folder in your working directory in ecl optimiser.

well it works perfectly :)
Just a little bit undersized.
Not to worry.
Nice software:)

unfortunately mine is still freezing. The cell that freezes is the begining title sequence of the 2nd episode on the disc. so i used RB-Opt to raise the bitrate of that cell to match the bitare of the matching cell in the 1st episode on the disc which had encoded with no problems (bitrate was 2304, i raised it to 2426). the title sequence is always the same length so a matching bitrate should have encoded properly (which stated earlier was probably the problem: too low a bitrate/Quantizer scale going above 100). yet cce still froze, 2 identical cells in length and bitrate, 1st encodes ok, 2nd freezes. any other ideas?

update: i just tried using RB-Opt to raise the bitrate of the cell that freezes cce to the highest possible (moved the slider all the way to the right). yet again, it froze. so this is not a low bitrate issue. i can backup the disc without problems using DIF4U which uses cce. so it cant be a cce problem itself, its something Rebuilder is passing along to cce. remember this was happening to me on more than 1 disc in this six feet under box set.
please let me know if there is anything i can send you to try and get this resolved.
thanks.

Try setting the minimum bitrate with RBOpt. This might be more effective than raising the average.

just tried raising the minimum bitrate from 0 to 500 using RB-Opt. still froze in the same place. the bitrate shown in the encoding window when cce freezes is 0.2 Mbps. it should not have been allowed to go that low if i set the min to 500 right? (average was 2408)

just tried another option: i added the line min_bitrate=1500 under options in the ini file. froze yet again. the freezing is happening at the beginning of a new pass. when a new pass starts the bitrate drops to 0.0 then raises to near what the average is set to. come the 3rd pass (3rd actual pass creating the m2v file, not counting the vaf file) it drops to 0.0, starts to climb, then hangs on 0.2 Mbps. this only seems to be happening with my episodic discs, movie discs i have not run into this problem yet.
if this is a cce issue then i dont understand why im not running into the same problem when backing up with DIF4U which also uses 0 as the minimum bitrate, which would drop the bitrate to 0 at the begining of every episode as it starts on a black screen. i mean cce is able to do the 1st episode on the disc ok with RB, it's just the 2nd episode that makes it freeze.

Glad to see I am not the only one with this issue, just wanted to add, I tried out a few versions of CCE (in DVD-RB), ran it through with DVD2SVCD, which took way longer than I ever remembered so I didn't dare finish (looked as though it was going to complete eventually), not sure exactly what is going on but for some reason CCE is not finishing with DVD-RB on the first disc for me. I will add that I couldn't use 2.67 and had to run 2.50 which isn't a problem on the other three discs but this is the first time that I couldn't get a disc to finish.
EDIT- Just want to add that in neither the 56test (older...) or 56 beta could I get that first disc to complete, curiously I am trying to see if the first season causes any problems, now keep in mind I have already successfully back up Sex and the City with 2.50 without any issues other than having to go back to the older build. I know, but all we can do is wait, tonight I am finally going to do some more interesting rips if I may say so myself, and I will see how this new version fares out, but for the time being I am still waiting to back up that first disc...

What about just ripping the m2v cell from the original title and using it instead of forcing CCE to produce a cell with the same bitrate and the same size of the original one ?
It is just a dirty trick and it would be very interesting to know what is making CCE to freeze, but in the meanwile,...
It should work...
