View Full Version : Runtime error 5 - Tivo sourced files

Anybody know of any issues with using tivo sourced files? I'm using TMPGenc dvd author to create the title set but when I attempt to prepare the files in Rebuilder v.055b (using CCE 2.5), I nearly always get a runtime error no. 5. Am using WinXP pro and don't get the error using non-tivo sourced files.
I use TyTool 9r13 to extract the video files from the tivo (uk version). So far, every video file under 1 gb has worked in rebuilder, whilst all over 2gb have failed (I have 20gb free on hd, btw).
I've read elsewhere that tivo video files have gop that is NOT dvd compliant, and whilst this doesn't cause me any dvd playback problems, I don't know whether this is partly to blame in causing Rebuilder to crash.
Any ideas, anyone?

It's the files over 2GB that are the source of the problem. Try setting up individual chapters in the original so each chapter is under 2GB.

Thanks for your help. In tmpgenc dvd author, a 2.5 gb video file was added with 4 chapters in total, but unfortunately the error still occurs. I also attempted to create a title set using TyTool (tivo app) with chapters every 5 minutes, but I still get the run-time error.
I now think that the size of the file is a red herring and that there is something in the tivo video files causing rebuilder to crash. Judging from where rebuilder was crashing with one file, I editing this down to a smaller size and then recreated the title set. The result was that Rebuilder crashes in the same portion of video as it did before.
Would it help if I uploaded this title set (approx 50 mb in size) to some webspace?

Hi
Merry Christmas to jdobbs and everybody else. Just wondering if any progress has been made with this problem? Have today tried using Rebuilder 0.67 and still get the same runtime error - is there a fix in build 0.70?
cheers
