What transcoder you prefer?
Mainly Instant Copy 8 but sometimes use DVD Shrink to cut credits or something like.

In what situations you use transcoder?
Mainly for DVD-backups which need to fit 4.37GB DVD disc and requires less than 20% compression.

There is plenty of opinions about transcoders in several threads but I thought that it would be easier to read them short and clear from one thread.

What transcoder you prefer?

IC8 for transcoding, DVDShrink for preprocessing.

In what situations you use transcoder?

When needed compression is less than 40% (90% of the time it is less than 30%, I'm doing movie-only) otherwise I split.

DVDRemake and/or IFOEdit for Preprocessing and IC8 for most stuff with less than 25 to 30% compression needed.

Longer movies or really high action I use DVDRebuilder/CCE SP.

dvdremake to get rid of studio crap and go straight to main menu

dvdshrink for encodes of less than 10%

dvdrebuilder for anything more

10% wow that is pretty rigid. Its almost impossible to tell the difference between an encode done with cce and one done with shrink/IC8 at compression of even 20%
