Using Divx 5.1.1 with virtualdub/virtualdubmod, suddenly the Performance/Quality option is greyed out and i can only use the standard quality. Does anyone have a clue what might cause this and how to get it back?
Edit: This happens with every source i've tried, which include *.avs and *.avi.

You may have enabled QPel and/or GMC.
May I suggest the DivX 5 user manual? It is availible at www.divx.com - it is quite informative.
Hi kingmob
Actually you only need to disable qpel, the reason being that qpel can't be used together with the rate-distortion algorithm used in slow and slowest modes. There should be no problems using GMC.

Ok, now I at least know what the problem seems to be.
Problem is i can't turn off Qpel (even tough it doesn't seem to be turned on...). Most options seem to be grayed out when i use the profile menu. Also on the video settings i can pretty much only change psychovisual enhancements. Somehow it is almost as if it's on 'lite' mode or something.
Also, i can't seem to find anything usefull on www.divx.com ever, that's why i asked here.
The official guide to divx can be found here (http://www.divx.com/support/guides/DivXGuide51.pdf). It sounds a bit strange with the grayed out options. In order to turn qpel on/off you have to disable profiles (select "select profile wizard" in the general tab. Under select profile wizard just tick "Disable profiles".

Well, when i try turning the profiles off, i have to select if I want Qpel on or off, but the thing is, the option is greyed out. Therefore disabling profiles doesn't work .
Nm, I've upgraded to version 5.2 and the problem is solved now. Thanks for the suggestions all.
