trying to burn a dvd with nero freezes system?!

Okay......it was a long way till i know its a fault with nero. I thought it was a Problem of Shrink......

When i open my nero (6.3.1.6.) and select to burn a dvd-video my system freezes when i klick on new (after selecting the options for the dvd). Its really annoying. i reinstalled nero 4 times (with reboot)......i changed the master/slave settings and the ide port....nothing worked. Any suggestions?

Iam using WinXP Professional, my DVD Burner is a NuTech DDW-081 with latest firmware.

Since you have Shrink why not set up the Nero burn to be done automatically in Shrink. If these are home movies try NVE in Nero. If your system constantly locks up then I think you might be having a registry conflict. You might try a registry cleaner and see if that helps

Hi,
i had these Option checked in Shrink for a long time. Then Shrink was freezing when pressing Backup. So i always believed Shrink made the trouble......but its nero. When i turn the option off in Shrink i can compress a movie.......but i cant burn it afterwards with Nero.
I tried Instantcopy now, and this programm is working. But i dont know why Nero is freezing the system :(

I will try the reg clean thing........but i dont think it will work. What is NVE btw?

Remove Nero completely, and then use the Clean-Tools provided by AHEAD.
Reboot and install Nero again.

Hello chéf......followed your advice.

deinstalled nero....
Driver - Cleantool found no errors....
Registry Checker did found some errors.
reboot
reinstall

Can you find something useful in the Event-Viewer?

You could delete the IDE-channel in Devicemanager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and reboot, just to try.

And what about updating Nero to 6.3.1.17?

Lol yeah.......i did the update a few mins ago.....and guess what? works....great :)
But i cant understand it i mean i was burning a whole bunch of dvds with the old nero version and suddenly it wasnt working anymore.....
And with the Update it does? :confused:
